Position: Design Evaluation Engineer

Location: Tyndall National Institute, Cork, Ireland

Job Description:

X-Celeprint is seeking a Design Evaluation engineer with experience in automated measurement of semiconductor and MEMS devices. The successful candidate will lead the characterisation and testing of MEMs ASICs. They will be the primary Design Evaluation Engineer in X-Celeprint and will have the opportunity to continuing building a lab and team as the organization grows. X-Celeprints Irish office is located within Tyndall National Institute, one of Europe’s leading ICT research centers, in Cork City Center.

What Will You Do In This Position:

Reporting to the Director of Engineering in North Carolina, US, you will be part of the Authentication Team as a Design Evaluation Engineer, responsible for ASIC Validation.

Key Responsibilities:

· Work with design to define device RF MEMs ACICs electrical and mechanical validation requirements.

· Work with fabrication team to incorporate DFT on wafer mask design.

· Develop automated test sequences using LabVIEW, Python, C++ or other programming languages.

· Design validation PCBs to support characterization and automation.

· Identify and learn to operate mechanical characterization instruments currently available in Tyndall National Institute.

· Test and troubleshoot devices, at both wafer and packaged levels.

· Post processing of characterization data using JMP, Origin or Python.

· Provide comprehensive validation reports on device performance.

· Define and acquire test equipment, fixtures and consumables as required.

· Provide guidance on possible solutions to problems found during device evaluation.

· Continuously improve existing test solutions and provide input on the implementation of future test solutions from bench to production ramp-up.

Qualifications/Experience:

- Must be an EU citizen

· Degree in Electronic Engineering, or related field.

· 5+ years of experience in the semiconductor or related industry. At least 3 years’ experience in characterisation or similar area.

· Experience in both Design Evaluation/Characterisation/Validation role and Test Development/ATE Engineering roles is an advantage.

· Experience in all stages of new product test development from prototype to production scaleup is an advantage to this position.

· Familiarity with RF measurements and equipment.

· Able to independently set up laboratory, interact with lab management, track activities, and develop test solutions.

· Work with international team across Europe and US.

· Mentor and support Junior Design Evaluation Engineers.

· Able to generate reports to communicate data to scientific staff and management. Comfortable with oral presentations of results.

· Experience presenting results and demonstrations to stakeholders and customers.

· Experience with sub-contracting work for probe cards, PCBs, mechanical fixtures, cabling, etc.
